Is Your Phone Number Auspicious?
手机号码卦象
Enter any mobile number and this free tool derives its I-Ching hexagram — the energetic signature of the digits you carry and broadcast every day. It uses the classical Former Heaven (Fu Xi) method: your digits form two trigrams, the trigrams form one of the 64 hexagrams, and a moving line reveals where the number's energy is heading.

Why Phone Numbers Matter in Chinese Metaphysics
In Singapore, "golden numbers" trade openly — telcos auction 8-heavy numbers for thousands of dollars, and 8888 combinations have sold for five figures. The folk logic is phonetic: 8 (发) sounds like prosperity, 4 (死) like death. Classical Chinese metaphysics goes deeper than homophones. In the I-Ching tradition, any sequence of numbers can be cast into a hexagram — a complete energetic pattern with its own character, strengths and warnings. Your phone number is a sequence you activate dozens of times a day, every call, every message, every contact who dials you.
This analyzer applies that classical casting. It is the same method a practitioner would use with pen and paper — done in a second, for free.
How the Casting Works
The method comes from the Plum Blossom (梅花易数) numerology tradition. Your number's digits are split into two halves: the first half forms the upper trigram (heaven), the second half the lower trigram (earth). Each half is summed and reduced by eight, mapping to one of the eight Fu Xi trigrams — 乾 Heaven, 兑 Lake, 离 Fire, 震 Thunder, 巽 Wind, 坎 Water, 艮 Mountain, 坤 Earth. Stacked together, the two trigrams form one of the 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching.
The total of all digits, reduced by six, locates the moving line — the single line in the hexagram where energy is actively shifting. Flip that line and a second hexagram appears: the direction of change, where your number's energy is evolving. A number that casts as 泰 (Peace) transforming toward 升 (Pushing Upward) tells a very different story from one sinking toward 困 (Oppression).
The tool also weighs the Five-Element relationship between your two trigrams — whether they nourish each other or fight — and scores the whole signature out of 100.
What to Do With the Result
If you're choosing a new number — a new line, a business number, a number for a child — run the candidates through the analyzer and compare hexagrams before you commit. There is no need to pay thousands for an "auspicious number service"; the classical method is documented, and now it's in your hands.
If your long-held number scores poorly, don't panic. A hexagram describes the number's own signature; whether it helps or harms you depends on your Bazi chart — a Fire-deficient chart carrying a Water-heavy number is a different conversation from a Water Day Master carrying the same digits. That interaction is practitioner territory: book a session with Master Yuan and bring both your chart and your number.
FAQ
What is an auspicious phone number?
An auspicious phone number is one whose digits cast a favourable I-Ching hexagram — patterns like 泰 (Peace), 大有 (Great Possession) or 谦 (Modesty) that classically indicate prosperity, harmony and support. Of the 64 hexagrams, 31 are traditionally considered auspicious.
How does the I-Ching phone number analysis work?
Your digits are split into two halves. Each half is summed and reduced by eight to form a Former Heaven (Fu Xi) trigram; the two trigrams stack into one of the 64 hexagrams. The total of all digits, reduced by six, marks the moving line — flipping it yields the transformed hexagram, the direction your number's energy is heading.
Is this analyzer really free?
Yes — the full analysis, including the primary hexagram, moving line, transformed hexagram, element relationship and score. No payment, no email, no account. Some services charge for exactly this casting; the method is classical and documented, so we give it away.
Is 8 really a lucky number?
In folk tradition, yes — 8 (发, "prosper") is prized and 4 (死, "death") avoided, which is why 8-heavy numbers command premiums at Singapore telcos. The I-Ching method is subtler: what matters is the hexagram the whole sequence casts, not any single digit. A number full of 8s can still cast a challenging hexagram, and a modest-looking number can cast 泰.
My number scored poorly — should I change it?
Not automatically. The score describes the number's own signature. Whether it actually works against you depends on your Bazi chart — the elements you need and the ones that burden you. If the number is tied to your business or long identity, have it read against your chart before deciding. Changing numbers has real costs; do it for real reasons.
Can I use this for a business or landline number?
Yes. The casting works on any digit sequence of four or more digits — mobile, landline, business hotlines, even car plates. For business numbers, look for hexagrams whose themes match the business: 井 (The Well) suits service businesses, 大有 (Great Possession) suits trading, 渐 (Development) suits long-horizon ventures.
Does my phone number override my Bazi?
No. Your Bazi chart is the blueprint; a phone number is one of many environmental layers — like a name, an address or a logo. Layers can support or chafe against the blueprint, but they don't replace it. That's why serious number selection starts from the chart, not the number.
